Primary Investigator
Elaine Moody is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University, Affiliate Scientist with Nova Scotia Health, and Associate Scientist with Maritime SPOR Support Unit. Her scholarship is focused on better understanding the context of health and health care for older people, particularly those with complex health and social care needs such as those with frailty, multimorbidity and dementia. She has an active program of research related to supporting nursing care of older people, including in acute care, primary care and community settings. Her methodological expertise includes qualitative research methods, such as conducting interviews and focus groups with older people with dementia and healthcare providers, and in conducting various types of systematic reviews. She has been a registered nurse for 20 years and has a clinical background in acute care, community care, and long-term residential care. Originally from Dartmouth, Elaine completed her BScN at StFX, and Masters and PhD at UBC in Vancouver.

Heather McDougall, B.Kin, MSc (Aging and Health)Heather McDougall is a research coordinator in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie. Her main focus is conducting systematic reviews. Heather has a master's degree in Aging and Health from Queen's University and previously worked as a recreation therapist in a long-term care home.

Research Assistants
Gianisa Adisaputri, M. Emergency Management, M.D.Gianisa Adisaputri is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University. Her research interests include access to healthcare, psychological resilience, intersectionality and emergency management. Her dissertation investigates access to primary care among immigrant women in rural communities. Previously, she was a general practitioner and a member of the Indonesian Medical Association, a medical manager at a multinational pharmaceutical company, and an English-Indonesian translator.
Maddy HayesMaddy Hayes is an undergraduate nursing student in the BScN program at Dalhousie University. She joined Dr. Moody’s research team in May of 2022 as a volunteer and was brought on as a research assistant in July of that same year. In addition to her work on various projects with the team, Maddy has recently been awarded an Undergraduate Summer Research Award from the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University. Under the guidance of Dr. Moody, she is currently using this funding to pursue a knowledge translation project exploring communication and shared decision-making involving people with dementia in the primary care setting.
Lane Williams BScN, RNLane Williams is a Registered Nurse with a passion for Public Health and promoting the social determinants of health. He has unique experiences as both an academic and practicing Registered Nurse. Lane is currently working with the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie University as a Research Associate where his primary focus is incorporating the social determinants of health into primary care. Clinically, Lane also work as a Public Health Nurse with the Public Health Mobile Unit to deliver both primary care and public health services to rural communities across Nova Scotia. In the future, he plans to pursue a Master of Community Health and Epidemiology where he will continue working to address health inequities and promote well-being.

Ishani Khanna, BScN, RN
Ishani Khanna was born and raised and Halifax, NS and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dalhousie University in 2022. She have been a part of Dr. Moody's research team since 2021 and is currently working as a Registered Nurse at the IWK in the children's health centre.
